Hi! I'm Lisa Fullmer, the owner/teacher at Wise Little Owls Preschool. I'm the grateful mother of 4 beautiful kids...a daughter who is 16, a 12-year-old son, and twin boys who are counting down the days to their 7th birthday!! I love being a mother and watching my children develop their talents, strengths, and personalities, and become the people they were created to be. Aside from my children's activities and playtime with them, I love decorating, writing, traveling, refinishing vintage furniture, and sporting events. My favorite teams to watch are my boys' teams;), but as a family, we also LoVE college basketball and football!
Educational background
I graduated magna cum laude from Utah State University with
a BS degree in Family and Human Development, with a double emphasis in Early
Childhood Education and Marriage and Family Relations. My first teaching role
was when I completed an internship my senior year and taught in a self-contained
preschool classroom for children with developmental and behavioral issues.
While in college, I also spent 6 months living in Taiwan where I taught English to preschool and elementary students. It was a very rewarding experience for me...one where I grew a lot and discovered a love for teaching that has always stayed with me.

Professional background
After completing my education, I became a licensed social
worker. My first professional position out of college was as a case manager for an at-risk
youth program in Cache Valley, which I loved! This job included coordinating services for my clients and teaching
parenting classes to the parents of my clients, among many other things. My
husband and I later moved to Davis County, where I worked for the Division of
Child & Family Services as a protective supervision services and foster
care worker for 5 years. After having my
first child, I worked only part-time for DCFS and have been a stay-at-home mom
for the past 13 years. During that time, I’ve volunteered my time in various
ways to stay connected with my children’s schools, with my community, and with my
love of teaching and social work. For the past 4 years, I’ve been a
volunteer with LDS Family Services, visiting numerous high schools and junior highs throughout Davis County to teach
students about something close to my heart, adoption. I teach groups of 30 - 150 students at any given time. It has been an amazing opportunity
and something I love doing.
Teaching philosophy
I’ve had the opportunity to have many teaching
roles. No matter what capacity I’m teaching in, my primary goal is to connect
with my students and let them know that they matter. The self-worth of
those I teach is of utmost importance to me. I feel that sets the tone for greater
progress and learning. I believe strongly in the power of positive
reinforcement. I approach teaching the same way I approach parenting, with a
keen awareness that we only get each moment once, so I want to make it count! Your child is only in
preschool once…you never get that time back…and I am committed to making it a
happy, positive, growing time for them! My classroom will be a place where
respect and kindness are expected and where every child knows they’re valued
and loved by their teacher.
I believe in open communication. I have always had strong
relationships with my children’s teachers, for which I’m grateful, and it’s
because we have always been supportive of each other and mutually invested in
my children. Please know that everything I do will be with your child’s best
interest in mind, and please don’t hesitate to address any concerns you may
have. No one knows or loves your child like you do. I am very invested in their
happiness and progress and will do all I can to address their needs.
