Schedule

Wise Little Owls Preschool will primarily follow the Davis County School District traditional schedule. However, we will take an additional week off 3 times per school year, and tuition will be adjusted accordingly.

Classes for the 2013-2014 school year will begin on TueSDaY, SePTeMBeR 10tH. Classes will be held three days per week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30-11:45am. Classes are intended for children 4-5 years old who are preparing for kindergarten. Because I am opening only one class this fall, there will be limited space for up to 12 children. If you'd like to register your child for Wise Little Owls, simply contact me as soon as possible, and registration materials will be mailed to you. Once your registration materials and fees are submitted, your child is officially enrolled in Wise Little Owls and his or her spot is saved just for them!

Our daily schedule will be the same every day, to provide consistency and structure for the students, and will look like this...

9:30-9:40 WELCOME
As the children arrive, they will have their choice of puzzles, coloring, manipulatives, and educational toys to play with at their individual tables while we wait for the entire class to arrive. This is both a good use of time while waiting for everyone to be present and a great way to get children involved who may struggle separating from their loved ones for school.

9:40-10:00 LET'S GET STARTED!
This is when the fun really begins! Each day, we will begin with saying the Pledge of Allegiance, updating our calendar, talking about the weather, ABCs, and 123s. This is when the theme of the day will be introduced. Students will rotate as helpers each day during this time.

10:00-10:30 CENTERS
During centers, students will rotate among the three tables and complete a variety of learning activities that reinforce the theme, letter, and/or number of the day. They will color, cut, trace, paste, sort, glue, draw, write, and so forth during centers.

10:30-10:45 FREE PLAY
We will have free play time in the middle of our school time in order to give students a chance to get their wiggles out, make choices, and practice important social skills as they navigate, negotiate, and cooperate with their friends as they play.

10:45-10:55 SNACK
Nutritional snacks will be provided each day by the preschool, except for certain occasions, which will be communicated to parents as the time approaches.

10:55-11:25 LET'S CREATE
During this time, children will have opportunities to use their creativity and participate in hands-on learning activities. Your child will be doing various activities and creating many fun projects throughout the year that accompany our theme for the day. The classroom rule is that there are no mistakes as we create our work and that everyone is an artist.

11:25-11:40 SINGING & STORY TIME
The students will be learning a lot of songs this year, as it will be a part of our daily routine. Music is a great learning tool and something {most} kids love. We will also be reading many books that complement and reinforce our themes. My hope is to instill a love of reading in all students as they discover the fun that lies within the pages of a book.

11:40-11:45 GOODBYE
Before heading home for the day, we will gather our papers and projects and grab our backpacks. Children will be brought outside to meet their parents.

Throughout the year, our schedule will also include monthly field trips so that the kids can discover the world around them. Parent volunteers will be requested for these outings.
